Festival of Carols at St Helen’s Church Abingdon (2.12.16)
We joined other Primary Schools from Abingdon to sing a selection of old and new carols at St Helen’s Church. After practising during the week, we thoroughly enjoyed the morning, sitting underneath the Christmas tree and singing the songs we had learnt. A very festive morning that included some catchy songs like The Christmas Bells are Ringing and classics like Little Donkey.
Remembrance Day visit to War Memorial Abingdon (11.11.16)
On Wednesday 11th November, Year 6 walked to the War Memorial in Abingdon. We took clay poppies and some messages to soldiers and placed them by the memorial. We observed the two minute silence at 11:00 alongside many residents of Abingdon. Whilst there we met a veteran from World War Two who told us about his medals and that he flew Lancaster Bombers in the War. When we returned to school we did some research and found out that his name was Stan Bradford and he was a Flight Sergeant with 57 Squadron.
Year 6 Residential
We went to Staffordshire to Kingswood Activity Centre for 3 days and 2 nights. We all had an amazing time and learnt to give things a go. Everyone was very resilient and didn’t give up even when it was tough! Thank you to everyone for making it such a successful and enjoyable trip!
