Clerk to the Governing Body
Part time @ £12.37 to £13.84 per hour
The Vale Academy Trust is a growing family of primary and secondary schools in south Oxfordshire. At present we have 2 schools in Abingdon and 6 in the Wantage area. Collectively we are responsible for the education of 4,250 young people and an employer of over 650 staff.
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and reliable clerk to join our Governance Team in supporting the local governing body of one or more of our schools in Wantage.
The Clerk to the Governing Body plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of governing body meetings, preparing agendas and papers and taking accurate minutes. They will advise on governance, constitution and procedural matters and provide administrative support to the governing body of the school to which they are assigned.
Interest from experienced clerks is welcome but full training is provided for those new to the school sector.
This role offers flexible, part-time working hours and the ability to work from home. Actual hours will depend upon the school to which the clerk is assigned, however the successful candidate must be able to commit to at least 84 working hours per year, about 14 of which will be spent attending governing body meetings with the balance working from home. There is scope for extra hours, particularly where a clerk is willing to be assigned to more than one school.
Most meetings are held at the school, term-time only and usually in the evenings, although there are also daytime opportunities.
Please download the Job Applicant Pack, which provides more detail about the role and instructions on how to apply.
